I've had mixed reactions from people I've shown this to, but I think it might actually be useful. In the UNIX shell a lot of things are presented in wide columns of information: consider for example ls -l.

This image, when used as a background image in gnome-terminal, gives the appearance of greenbar paper. It will only work for one text height without editing the image, which for me is Bitstream Vera Sans Mono 8. If you use a different font, just edit the xpm file.
