I have a new NVIDIA card driving my two screens (LCD primary and CRT secondary). Like many (most?) people, I want the LCD as the primary screen (the one where the login prompt, toolbars, etc. show up), but the NVIDIA drivers really want the CRT to be primary. The TwinView setup doesn't allow you to choose which is primary -- only the screens' resolutions and their placement with respect to one another. I finally got the results I wanted by eschewing TwinView and setting up the xorg.conf as if there were two graphics cards, but with the same PCI identifier. This is using the latest NVIDIA driver, which is 1.0-8178 with XOrg 6.8.2.
